Awesome effect.

Here's my reply to your comment:
Thank you Trisha!
To answer your question:
a. The Port of Hamburg is brightly lit even at night - there's a yellowish / orange glow in the sky
b. I don't use the automatic white balance - I set my camera to "sunlight" or "colour temperature" - which intensifies the effect caused by the glow.

If you'd like to see another example for the glow in the sky, click here.
Click here to see a picture of the port itself.

[I hope the html works - haven't tried this since the good old MySpace days hahah]

Have a nice weekend!

This is really cool! Makes an ordinary tree a little more exciting. :)

PS: I am always jealous at your perfect shots. I got a free trial of Elements, but I find there are so many possibilities with it, it's a little overwhelming. Mainly I'd just like my B&Ws to be a little better. Yours always look so great. :)

It almost makes it look like a sort of 'tree carousel' T, unusual effect.

Lúcia said...

That's surreal! ;-)

Oh I feel dizzy, I think I am going to faint.
On a more serious side, I am with Halcyon. I admire your black & whites. I never can seem to obtain the richness of black and purity of white in converting my color images using any of the 3 photo programs at my disposal. Maybe someday you can do a post revealing a few of your secrets.

Great 'crazy' effects with this addon, this is one area where digital can be different from film.

I really like the effect on this one - it looks like you're having fun with these distortions!

Special picture, nice how you can make only one small part so sharp.

Like Woody said, that lensbaby leaves no question as to where the eye should go. I look forward to continuing to learn from you in 2012.

And a nice one, super-soft. I'll be doing some desert shooting in a few days. Must remember to bring my Lensbaby along.

Hi !! First of all, I´m very glad to see you are fine again and fully resumed photography. It is interesting, recently I have felt like trying with some different effects like this you show here. Very interesting indeed, the blur effect invite us to focus our attention more to the feelings and emotions, and less to the details that sometimes can be misleading. In the case of this very image, I dont know, it makes me feel like I´m listening to the sounds, some kids laughing and playing, the sound of some car, the bikes strolling . . . sometimes it happens when we just sit in a park bench and let our mind fly for a moment, far from the mundane worries :) No images, just sounds and light, flowing. . .

Receive my warmest Regards der T. :)

Yikes! My equalibrium has been off the last couple of days because of a sinus infection and when I saw this I thought I had taken a turn for the worse! LOL

I think that lens would be a lot of fun to play with.

It's fascinating what this lens does. The colours remind me of modern stained glass.
