Theme Day: Photo of the Year

First, happy 2012 to everyone!  It's been another fantastic year spent with you, your incredible photos, and kind words.  I look forward to more of the same in the coming year!
This is my submission to City Daily Photo's Photo of the Year where one chooses their best photo from the outgoing year.  I chose this photo with your help as it is one of the photos that received the most comments from you.  It was taken in Paris in 2011. There's some great tension between the child and the man!

Start of another year; I think the young one is in the process of 'throwing a strop'.

I agree about the tension - the lad is about to explode at the man's mantel of aloofness. But also like the touch of pink in the bicycle, and the neat way it has been parked at the curb.

May I wish you good things for the year ahead, Like health. Like laughter. And people to share joy with.

It is a wonderful "story" photograph, even if we must guess at what the story is . . .

All the best in 2012, T. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful shots.

Every photo has its own story, sometimes serveral depending how people see it. That is what's so great about photography. But for once, I am without a story on this one. Pretty neat.

A photo with a dear little child, in black and white.
I LOVE IT. I remember your little boy in Paris, didn't he wear red shoes? Anyway, this is a delightful photo to see on the first day of January. Wishing you a great new year,

Janie

This looks like something one would find in an art gallery...certainly something is going on...maybe the parents are separated the child's mother is inside the church and the child has just said,

"Come to church with me, Daddy!"

It's a very poignant offering for theme day.

Our very best to you and yours for a superb New Year, filled with good things and lots of photos!

You are definitely the Queen of black and white. The depth of field in this photo is fantastic. Is that a hint of pink I see on the bike?

Difficult not to remember this moment.

Being a father on my own, know that kids can be a challenge; the feeling however to have overcome it, and taught them to ride a bike, so much worth.

A safe road ahead and a great new year for you all as well.

That's a powerful picture. The setting is quiet and beautiful, but the child looks like s/he (I can't tell) is accusing the man of some terrible deed.

I love the desert - hope to see more of it from you soon. I'll be posting some arid pictures in about a week and a half.
